An Irish couple has been left ‘devastated’ after losing an engagement ring on a St Patrick’s Day night out just two days after getting it.
The couple, Mark and Orla, were out on Saturday night in the Irish capital to celebrate both their recent engagement and Ireland’s Six Nations triumph.
Getting a taxi from Baggot Street, the engaged couple were left ‘wishing for a miracle’ after realizing they left Orla’s new ring in the back of the taxi.
Taking to Twitternow known as X, on St Patrick’s Day, Mark issued a plea to the public for help locating the missing ring and recommendations on what to do next.
‘Wishing for a miracle. Would appreciate a RT and any advice. Last night at midnight myself & Orla got a Dublin Taxi from Baggot St.
‘We had the engagement ring only two days. We left it in the back of the taxi. Absolutely devastated. We got the taxi on the road and paid cash,’ Mark wrote.
He later added in an update: ‘Unfortunately no developments with getting the Ring back. Please keep sharing. We are now offering a reward.
‘Tomorrow we will chase up the contacts and ideas people have been telling us today. This is a better image of the taxi. Blown away by the support shown. Thank you.’
Members of the public flocked to the comments section of the post in their droves to offer their advice on how to track down the missing ring.
One person said: ‘God sorry to read this must be gutting – will keep everything crossed for you both that you find it.’
Another added: ‘Make sure the Guard knows – taxi drivers tend to drop stuff into them if they don’t know who lost it. Worth calling a few stations close to you. Where they picked you up from and Lucan. Hope you get it back.’
While someone wrote: ‘Not being funny but you should email or contact @joeliveline, last week a listener got a violin back that was left in the back of a taxi… hope you get it back.’
