Is NIO Stock (NYSE:NIO) a Diamond in the Rough? Probably Not

Fewer companies have endured a sharper decline in their share prices since the pandemic than NIO (NYSE:NIO). The electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer has failed to deliver on great promises, and it’s arguable that its proprietary battery-swapping technology is no longer as useful as it once was, given the advances in charging technology. I’m no longer bullish on NIO stock, although I wouldn’t be surprised to see near-term volatility as investors digest production data and news.

Not Delivering on Promises

Around two years ago, I argued that NIO, considering its growth trajectory and valuation metrics, was among the best buys in the sector. The firm had been on something of a Tesla-esque (NASDAQ:TSLA) growth cycle. However, it was underdelivered, partially due to supply chain constraints as China imposed prolonged COVID-19 restrictions, and it is continuing to do so.

In 2023, NIO delivered 160,038 vehicles, up 30.66% year-over-year. While that might sound like impressive growth, NIO delivered 91,429 vehicles in 2021, representing 109.1% year-over-year growth.

It’s clear that the pace of growth is slowing, while NIO’s peers are surging despite already being ahead in volume terms. Li Auto (NASDAQ:LI) reported that total deliveries in 2023 increased

Prime determinants of growth

The most used method for making lab grown diamonds is the chemical vapor disposition method, also known as the CVD method, which was invented in the 1980s. This method has become increasingly popular due to the lower costs of production and reduction in space required for houses such as machines. Diamond Dawgs Make Early Lead Stick, Secure Series Over No. 14 Texans

AUSTIN, Texas – Washington opened up with a big lead over No. 14 Texas on Saturday and held it through the final out, locking up the series over the Longhorns with a 5-3 win at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

Husky starter Calvin Kirchoff got the win, matching his career-high with six strikeouts and holding the Texas offense to four hits over six. Sam Boyle earned his first save of the season, scattering three hits over three scoreless frames.

Scoring the final eight runs of Friday’s ballgame, the Huskies picked up right where they left off. Following a Cam Clayton leadoff walk and an Aiva Arquette double, Jeter Ybarra lifted a sacrifice fly for the game’s first run.

A few pitches later, AJ Guerrero tattooed an inside offering, pulling a two-run home run over the left field wall to make it 3-0 after one.

Scientists use indestructible ‘plant diamond’ substance to create storage solution for pollution: ‘You can’t destroy it’

The powerful substance that surrounds pollen is being studied at the University of Florida with the hope of unlocking the secret to its durability.

If the Gator scientists can replicate the near-destructive, protective shell called sporopollenin, it could become a breakthrough for capturing and storing underground air pollution.

The secret is empowering plant roots by replicating the shielding.

Pollen protection is crucial for the “vulnerable” plant particles. Unlocking the chemical structure of the substance has been so far as tough as the sporopollenin itself, the journal Nature reported.

“They call sporopollenin the ‘plant diamond’ because you can’t destroy it,” genetics Professor and study lead Matias Kirst said in the university lab report. “This has made it incredibly difficult to study in the past.”

Plants naturally remove air pollution from our atmosphere and provide many other benefits. But when they decompose, the dirty air is released back into the environment.

Americans Fred Kerley and Christian Coleman headline the strong field for the 100m at the Shanghai/Suzhou Diamond League Meeting scheduled for April 27 in China.

Coleman, the 60m world record holder, has had a great start to his season, winning the 60m title at the World Indoor Championships by beating triple world champion Noah Lyles.

He heads to China confident of doing wonders one more time as he builds up for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games later this year.

Beavers welcome back wealth of talent on diamond | Baseball

DUBOIS — Coming off back-to-back nine win seasons (9-12, 9-13) that ended with losses to Central Mountain in the District 6/8/9 Class 5A subregional finals, the DuBois baseball team has its sights set on bigger and better things this year.

Those aspirations are aided by the fact DuBois welcomes back a wealth of talent from last season — a group who will be joined by a bunch of new varsity faces who also have the ability to make an impact.

DuBois did lose six seniors to graduation including four who saw action as starters — left fielder Jordan Ell (.373, 10 doubles, 10 RBIs, 11 runs) and infielders Gavin Kaschalk (.250, 8 RBIs, 7 runs), Billy Gray ( .250, 9 RBIs, 5 runs) and Aaron Andrulonis (.263, 3 doubles, 6 runs).

“We lost a couple key players in our lineup, especially defensively, but fortunately we recovered a lot of the talent we’ve had from the last couple years,” said Bowman.
