What is the most Oscars won by a single movie?

Posted on 01/01/2026 By Syifa

“Oppenheimer” leads the 2024 Oscar nominations with 13 nodes, but no film has ever won that many Academy Awards before. Several movies have come close, however.

More than 3,000 Oscars have been awarded since 1929, according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which hands out the awards.

These are the films with the most Oscar nominations and wins in history:

Which movie has won the most Oscars?

Three films are tied for having the most Oscar wins of all time:

  • “Ben Hur” (1959)
  • “Titanic” (1997)
  • “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” (2003)

Each of those films received 11 Academy Awards.

“Ben-Hur,” which received 12 nominations, has been adapted several times. The 1959 film, starring Charlton Heston, Stephen Boyd, Jack Hawkins and Hugh Griffith, was directed by William Wyler. Wyler has the distinction of having earned 12 Oscar nominations for best director.

“Titanic,” which received 14 nominations, starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet and Billy Zane. It was directed by James Cameron.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King,” directed by Peter Jackson, received 11 nominations. The film stars Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, Cate Blanchett, Sean Bean, and

Why will Saturn’s rings briefly ‘disappear’ from view in 2025? | Explained News

Posted on 26/11/2025 By Syifa

One of the most spectacular sights in the Solar System is the majestic ringed planet Saturn, which is clearly visible in the evening sky through a telescope. In 2025, however, Saturn’s rings will seemingly disappear from view.

It isn’t as if the planet will lose them forever. The rings will just be invisible from Earth and will reappear soon thereafter. The reason for this temporary disappearance has to do with Saturn’s tilt and an optical illusion.

Why will Saturn’s rings be invisible from Earth?

Like Earth’s axis of rotation, which is tilted by 23.5 degrees, Saturn’s axis of rotation has a 26.7 degree tilt — its enormous ring system is also tilted to the plane of Saturn’s orbit. As a result, when Saturn revolves around the Sun, it seems to nod up and down when viewed from Earth and the view of its rings also keeps changing.

The ring system revolves around a fixed axis, so both sides of the ring disk are visible from Earth during each period in which Saturn orbits

Kids News: NASA confirms Saturn’s rings to disappear from view by 2025

Posted on 02/11/2025 By Syifa

Stargazers should enjoy seeing Saturn’s rings while they can.

NASA reports the gas planet’s famous interstellar* hoops are going to vanish from view in 18 months — but thankfully it’s just an optical illusion*.

In March 2025, Saturn’s rings will become invisible from our planet due to Saturn tilting within its axis of orbit*. That’s despite the rings — which extend from 70,000km to 140,000km — being the equivalent of the width of 30 Earths.

Here’s why.

Every 13.5 to 15.7 years, Earth sees Saturn on a perfectly horizontal plane*, causing the bands of cosmic* dust to seemingly disappear from our faraway view.

That’s because, despite the huge width of the rings, they measure as thin as 90m in most places — which is nothing considering that Saturn is a staggering* 1200 million kilometers from Earth.

The planet’s tilt is currently angled downward at 9 degrees and will decrease to a barely visible 3.7 degrees in 2024.

When this angle hits zero in March 2025, spotting these celestial* circles will be akin* to seeing “a sheet of paper edge-on when it’s positioned at the far end of a soccer field,” according to Earth.com.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long

NASA releases new images of Uranus’s rings captured with the James Webb Space Telescope

Posted on 28/10/2025 By Syifa

Uranus and its rings shine in vibrant glory in new images captured by the ultra-powerful James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

Utilizing the extreme sensitivity on the telescope, NASA was able to capture the planet’s rings, moons, storms and even a seasonal polar cap.

JWST also captured Uranus’s dim inner and outer rings, including the elusive Zeta ring – the extremely faint and diffuse ring closest to the planet.

Many of the planet’s 27 known moons are also visible, even some of the smaller moons that exist within its rings.

Wait, Uranus has rings?

Yep!

While Saturn might be most famous for its rings, some five rings were discovered around Uranus in 1977. Then when the spacecraft Voyager 2 zipped past in the 1980s, more rings were discovered.

Uranus has two sets of rings — the inner system of nine dark, gray rings and the two outermost rings.

Of its outer rings, one is reddish like other dusty rings in the solar system and the outer ring is blue like Saturn’s E ring.
