Robbers steal $91k worth of jewelry from Downtown Brooklyn shop: NYPD • Brooklyn Paper

Two armed robbers stole thousands of dollars of jewelry from a Downtown Brooklyn store.

An alleged armed robber was cuffed on March. 17 for stealing a load of precious jewelry from a Downtown Brooklyn store.

Cops said two men carrying firearms walked into Contessa Jewelry on Fulton Street and started looting the store, grabbing up gold chains, bracelets, and diamond rings from display cases.

The thieves left the store weighed down with $91,200 worth of jewelry.

After reviewing the store’s security cameras, cops identified and arrested a 26-year-old man that evening and recovered the stolen jewelry. The second perp still remains at large.

Overall crime is up more than 15% in the 84th Precinct, where the heist took place, per the latest NYPD data, and robberies are uo 200% year-over-year, with at least 48 robberies reported in the precinct so far in 2024 Last month, a pair of thieves stole more than $600 worth of cannabis products from a Brooklyn Heights smoke shop.

Gold prices decrease marginally – VnExpress International

Saigon Jewelry Company gold bar price slid 0.13% to VND81.7 million ($3,297.68) per tael Wednesday morning.

Gold ring price was unchanged at VND68.7 million per tael. A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces.

Globally, gold prices were stuck in a tight range on Wednesday as traders prepared for a key policy decision from the US Federal Reserve and remarks from Fed Chair Jerome Powell later in the day, which could shed more light on prospects of rate cuts this year, Reuters reported.

Spot gold was steady at $2,158.29 per ounce. US gold futures edged 0.1% higher to $2,161.60.

With the US central bank expected to hold rates steady, traders are awaiting its economic and interest rate projections for the rest of the year.

“There’s a real chance that the Fed may not be as dovish as traders want to hear, and that the median dot plot could be revised from three to two, or even one Fed cut this year,” City Index senior analyst Matt Simpson said.

Her 2019 collection Salt of the Earth featured ropes, salt crystals and patinated blue-green brass, and was showcased in exhibitions at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum and New York’s Brooklyn Museum.
A third-generation Kenyan of South Asian origin, she interned at Indian jewelers such as The Gem Palace, whose patrons have included Princess Diana, Oprah Winfrey and Gwyneth Paltrow.
