Emily Ratajkowski knows how to turn diamonds into… even more diamonds. The model has taken one of the most sentimental yet bittersweet pieces of jewelry from her closet and transformed it into a statement of strength and independence.

On March 19, EmRata debuted her new “divorce rings” on Instagram. It turns out she used her engagement ring from ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, whom she divorced in 2022, to make two new rings that signify her newfound freedom.

The New Bling

EmRata posted a slideshow of photos showing off her new bling, tagging jewelry designer Alison Lou, who helped with the transformation. The pear-shaped and princess-cut diamonds now sit on their own gold bands.

In a new interview, Ratajkowski told Vogue the rings “represent my own personal evolution” following her breakup. “I don’t think a woman should be stripped of her diamonds just because she’s losing a man,” she quipped.

She said the idea came to her after reading her friend Stephanie Danler’s essay “The Unravelers,” which mentions her grandmother’s “snake ring” that includes every stone from the rings of her previous marriages. “I loved the idea of a ring unabashedly representing the many lives a woman has lived,” EmRata said.

Emily Ratajkowski has confirmed she used her engagement band to make her two new “divorce rings” – and says they were inspired by one of Rihanna’s toe rings.

The 31-year-old model, who was given a two-stone engagement ring said to be worth up to $90,000 by her ex-husband Sebastian Bear-McClard, 36, in 2018, got her fans excited when she showed off her new bling on Instagram on Tuesday (19.03.24) to mark their split, but it was unclear at the time exactly how she had designed the pair of sparklers.

She has now told Vogue: “The rings represent my own personal evolution.

“I don’t think a woman should be stripped of her diamonds just because she’s losing a man.”

Vogue reported the idea to repurpose the rings struck Emily while she was reading her friend Stephanie Danler’s essay ‘The Unravelers’ in The Paris Review.

Prince William‘s decision not to wear a wedding ring seems to have nothing to do with Princess Kate‘s disappearance from the public eye.

As William, 41, continues to step out for royal engagements while Kate, 42, maintains a low-profile following a planned abdominal surgery, spectators have noticed that William has no band on that fingers.

While the observation has only fueled rumors about the couple’s marriage and speculation about Kate stepping away from the spotlight, it seems William has never worn a wedding ring in the first place. (Kensington Palace said in January that Kate was recovering from the procedure and would resume royal engagements after Easter.)

Before William and Kate’s wedding in April 2011, the palace confirmed that William would not be wearing a ring on the big day. “There will only be one ring, which is in accordance with the wishes of Prince William and Catherine,” a royal spokesperson told Us Weekly at the time.“It’s quite common for there to just be the one ring in society or royal weddings. It’s been the same in other royal weddings, so it’s not a rare occurrence.”

Model and author Emily Ratajkowski has put a new spin on engagement rings by splitting her diamond in two and hailing it The Divorce Ring.

EmRata split from film producer Sebastian Bear-McClard – with whom she shares a three-year-old son – in September 2022 after four years of marriage. She is now celebrating her “personal evolution” through bling.

“I don’t think a woman should be stripped of her diamonds just because she’s losing a man,” she told Vogue.

In a recent string of snaps shared to Instagram, the My Body author shows off the stunning new addition designed by Alison Lou, a luxury jeweler who initially designed her original engagement ring.

“This is just … ICONIC,” one person responded, while another wrote: “If ever a post deserved a ‘love this’ its this one.”

A third added: “Big Boy Moves my friend.”

The inspiration came from Stephanie Danler’s essay The Unravelers.

Carl Radke has defended his decision to ask for Lindsay Hubbard’s wedding ring after he broke off their engagement. About a week ago, Lindsay appeared on Watch What Happens Live to share that Carl “demanded” the ring back.

At the time, Lindsay discussed “New York law” vs. “etiquette.” She shared, “Legally, the ring belongs to him. Now, I did take it off pretty much immediately [and] gave it to my jeweler for safekeeping. And she gave it back to him when he emailed me and demanded it back.”
