Webb Captures New Images of Uranus, Its Enigmatic Rings and Moons

Posted on 14/11/2025 By Syifa

New images from the Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) instrument onboard the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope shows Uranus, its ring system and some of its 27 moons.

This Webb image exquisitely captures the seasonal north polar cap of Uranus, including the bright, white, inner cap and the dark lane at the bottom of the polar cap. Uranus' dim inner and outer rings are also visible in this image, including the elusive Zeta ring -- the extremely faint and diffuse ring closest to the planet. Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun at a distance of about 2.9 billion km (1.8 billion miles).

The first planet discovered with the aid of a telescope, Uranus was discovered in 1781 by the German-born British astronomer William Herschel.

One day on Uranus takes about 17 hours. And the planet makes a complete orbit around the Sun in about 84 Earth years.

Uranus has the third-largest diameter in our Solar System, and is surrounded by 13 faint rings and 27 moons.

In visible wavelengths as seen by NASA’s Voyager 2 spacecraft in the 1980s, Uranus appeared as a placid, solid blue ball.

Saturn’s renowned rings to disappear from Earth’s view from 2025; here’s all you need to know

Posted on 12/11/2025 By Syifa

Saturn which is the sixth and the second largest planet in our solar system is known for its bright and glorious rings. But, do you know, this crowding ring is soon set to disappear? According to media reports, NASA has indicated that Saturn’s renowned rings will disappear from view in the year 2025. As per NASA, Saturn’s rings are made of billions of small chunks of ice and rock coated with other materials such as dust. The planet has seven rings namely D, C, B, A, F, G, and E, as per NASA.

Why will the Saturn’s ring disappear?

Saturn which is nine times bigger than the Earth is set to disappear from view as it will tilt edge-on with Earth, making the enormous rings invisible, as per media report. As per media reports, currently, the planet’s tilt is 9 degrees, but it will drop down to 3.7 degrees by 2024 and eventually be 0 by 2025.

The European Space Agency (ESA) calls this phenomenon as Saturnian Equinox. Explaining it, ESA states that Equinox is a point in a planet’s orbit where the Sun shines directly overhead at the equator.

As per NASA’s transcript on ‘Equinox at Saturn’, it takes

2 wedding rings donated to Salvation Army at Waltham Market Basket – NBC Boston

Posted on 11/11/2025 By Syifa

A person is hoping to bring love and joy to after donating two wedding rings to a Salvation Army donation kettle at a Massachusetts supermarket.

The wedding band and engagement ring, estimated to be worth $1,500, were discovered Thursday night, along with a note, after being dropped in a red kettle at a Market Basket in Waltham, according to a news release.

“This ring is being given in love for a second time,” the unsigned note reads. “Like the first time, I hope that this ring will bring joy and make a difference.”

The note also quoted the Bible verse John 3:16.

A staffer, Lt. Nichole Fullop, found the rings while counting money collected from various donation kettles Thursday night, the Salvation Army said.

“We are honored and humbled that someone would care enough to give something this precious to The Salvation Army to help others,” Fullop said in a statement. “Donors dropping valuable jewelry and coins with notes into kettles has been happening for years and is often a reminder of how the kettle is a sign of hope.”

New Details Leak For The Revolutionary Wearable

Posted on 05/11/2025 By Syifa

In January, Samsung unveiled its latest wearable device, the Galaxy Ring. Now, it looks like we know more than ever about what is coming and when. August looks like being the moment we can get our hands, I mean our fingers, on the Ring.

Then, the site says, it will be released in August, it seems after being announced in July alongside Samsung’s next folding phones. The July date has been teased already, so an August onsale date is a perfect fit with that schedule.

Health Features

According to the report, the accuracy for measurements on the Galaxy Ring is “superior to the watch”. That’s intriguing. Dr Hon Pak, who’s running the project, told me that measurements were on par with the Galaxy Watch, but not ahead of it. So, I’m taking this detail with a pinch of salt.

Kids News: NASA confirms Saturn’s rings to disappear from view by 2025

Posted on 02/11/2025 By Syifa

Stargazers should enjoy seeing Saturn’s rings while they can.

NASA reports the gas planet’s famous interstellar* hoops are going to vanish from view in 18 months — but thankfully it’s just an optical illusion*.

In March 2025, Saturn’s rings will become invisible from our planet due to Saturn tilting within its axis of orbit*. That’s despite the rings — which extend from 70,000km to 140,000km — being the equivalent of the width of 30 Earths.

Here’s why.

Every 13.5 to 15.7 years, Earth sees Saturn on a perfectly horizontal plane*, causing the bands of cosmic* dust to seemingly disappear from our faraway view.

That’s because, despite the huge width of the rings, they measure as thin as 90m in most places — which is nothing considering that Saturn is a staggering* 1200 million kilometers from Earth.

The planet’s tilt is currently angled downward at 9 degrees and will decrease to a barely visible 3.7 degrees in 2024.

When this angle hits zero in March 2025, spotting these celestial* circles will be akin* to seeing “a sheet of paper edge-on when it’s positioned at the far end of a soccer field,” according to Earth.com.

Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long

NASA releases new images of Uranus’s rings captured with the James Webb Space Telescope

Posted on 28/10/2025 By Syifa

Uranus and its rings shine in vibrant glory in new images captured by the ultra-powerful James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

Utilizing the extreme sensitivity on the telescope, NASA was able to capture the planet’s rings, moons, storms and even a seasonal polar cap.

JWST also captured Uranus’s dim inner and outer rings, including the elusive Zeta ring – the extremely faint and diffuse ring closest to the planet.

Many of the planet’s 27 known moons are also visible, even some of the smaller moons that exist within its rings.

Wait, Uranus has rings?

Yep!

While Saturn might be most famous for its rings, some five rings were discovered around Uranus in 1977. Then when the spacecraft Voyager 2 zipped past in the 1980s, more rings were discovered.

Uranus has two sets of rings — the inner system of nine dark, gray rings and the two outermost rings.

Of its outer rings, one is reddish like other dusty rings in the solar system and the outer ring is blue like Saturn’s E ring.

Can smart rings reshape wearable tech? Here’s what we think | Technology News

Posted on 30/07/2025 By Syifa

Often billed as the future of wearables, smart rings are perhaps one of the most discreet gadgets around that effortlessly blend technology with fashion. While these are handy (or should we say fingery?) devices have existed for years now, Samsung pulled them into the limelight at its latest Unpacked event, teasing its upcoming Galaxy Ring.

But what exactly are smart rings and what can they do? We take a look at the capabilities and limitations of this new category of miniaturized health trackers.

What are smart rings?

Tiny yet mighty, smart rings pack impressive technology into a small ring-sized device. They can monitor health stats, control other devices, and much more, much like their bulkier smartwatch counterparts. Equipped with advanced sensors, smart rings track metrics including heart rate, blood oxygen levels, sleep quality, steps, and even stress levels. The data is then viewable on a connected smartphone app, allowing users to analyze trends and progress towards health goals.

Beyond wellness tracking, some smart rings add convenience through features like gesture controls and haptic feedback for notifications. For example, a simple flick of the finger lets you do things like dim smart lights or cue up a playlist. When a

Archeologists say they have discovered the sunken Stone Age ruins of a 7,000-year-old road at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea.

KALMAR, Sweden – The discovery of a remarkable artifact from centuries ago among tens of thousands of medieval objects found in Sweden has thrilled archaeologists.

Nearly 30,000 objects were discovered during the two-year excavation of medieval Kalmar, according to the Archaeologists, which is part of the government’s National Historical Museums. Among the unique finds was a gold ring in almost new condition.

Carved with the figure of Christ, the ring dates to the beginning of the 15th Century, according to the agency. Based on its size, researchers say it’s possible that a woman may have worn the ring. Other rings like it have been discovered in northern Finland, Östergötland and Uppland.

“Probably someone was unlucky and lost the ring 500 years ago,” said Magnus Stibéus, project manager at the Archaeologists.
